Noel Summerford hates Christmas. It drives him nuts every year. It's all festive rubbish and an expensive exercise in commercialism to him. Noel could't think of any worse than ice skating at Somerset House. It's London's most favourite outdoor ice rink. Anyway he promised his godson Jasper to take him skating at Somerset House. This is the place where they meet Holly.

Holly Winterlake loves Christmas. This December she couldn't think of anything better than ice skating for a living. It was a dream come true for her to be an Ice Marshall at the Somerset House. Holly is watching Jasper and discovers that he is a natural talent. She gets chatting to Jasper, offering to learn him some tricks. Holly used to skate professionally until a injury ruined her dream.

Can they be more different? Noel the "Grinch" kind of guy and Holly the heart warming sunshine. Do opposites really attrack? It seems so. Holly makes sure Noel changes his ways. Maybe Christmas is not so bad after all ...

I enjoyed this short story very much. Looking back of all the christmassy tales I've read this year so far, it's been one of my favourites. It was the first story I read by Nikki Moore. I was familiar with her because her name and books appeared on my Twitter news feed from time to time. I am happy I had the chance to discover her writing now. I instantly liked the involving characters. I loved how well developed the characters were for a short story. Moore writes with a wit and charm that makes it exceedingly easy to fall in love with her work and which makes her #LoveLondon Series the perfect choice if you’re searching for a quick pick-me-up or a light-hearted short story. Eminently quotable and a whole lot of fun, Skating at Somerset House is a refreshing and lively love story in which opposites attract and the road to a happily-ever-after is anything but smooth.
