Sarah Smith had an addiction – she was addicted to romance novels. The meet-cute, the passion, the drama and the gorgeous men! Now this wouldn’t have been such an issue if she hadn’t been the owner of the only bookshop in Ashford, Connecticut.

Ever since her close friend Lil, from The Gingerbread Café, had become engaged she had been yearning for a little love to turn up in her life. Except Sarah knew a good man was hard to find – especially in a tiny town like Ashford. That was until New York journalist, Ridge Warner stepped into her bookshop…

Love could be just around the corner for Sarah, but will she be able to truly believe that happy-ever-after can happen in real-life too!

My thoughts

I kindly received The Bookshop on the Corner in exchange of an honest review by the author via Netgalley.

In the Bookshop on the Corner we get to meet Sarah Smith, owner of the only Bookshop in a little town called Ashford. Books are everything for Sarah. She reads them, sells them and looks out for hidden treasures. The only thing Sarah does is spent time with her local friends and lose herself in a good romance book. She kind of lives in her own little world, never stepped out of her comfort zone and never left Ashford to traveled and explore the bookshops around the world. This suddenly changed when  Ridge Warner, a tall, dark and very handsome journalist from New York entered her shop to interview her for an article on Sarah's hometown after he visited the Chocolate Festival. Maybe after a whole life of reading romance novels, the love gods decided to drop a real life hero in her world.

I am a fan of the Gingerbread Series but I am not totally crazy about it. With The Bookshop on the Corner, Rebecca finally got me! This novella worked in every way for me. I loved every page of it. I kept turning the pages until I finished this wonderful novella. The execution was perfect, I adored the characters, loved the soryline, and the writing style. This is the kind of book I'd love to live in. I wish someone like Sarah could be my best friend. The Bookshop on the Corner had the perfect blend of romance, warmth and reality.

The characters in The Bookshop on the Corner were all, in their own way, quite fantastic. Sarah is one of the best characters I've read about in a long time because I can relate to her in so many ways. Sarah lives and breaths books. So do I. I think Rebecca will hit many book bloggers nerves with The Bookshop on the Corner.  We all know how important books can be to people. It's pure escapism for us. We get lost in another world, travel to places we have never been to, fall in love with characters,  go on adevtures we can't experience in our real life. There is another character in this novella I really adore. This is Missy. Owner of the local hairdessser/beauty salon in Ashford. What a fantastic and caring friend she is. I really hope we'll hear more of her. Also we have the chance to catch up with Lily and and Ceecee from the Gingerbread Café.

I highly recommend this novella to every chick-lit/romance blogger. It was a delight to read it brought me so much joy. You are in for a treat! Can't wait to read more of Rebecca Raisin's writing.
